Which Program is Right For Me?

Deciding how best to manage a lawn means finding balance between economic, political and agronomic variables. They can be arranged to form a triangle, each element relating to the other, as illustrated to the right.

To pick the best program, take a moment to consider the following:

1. How do I want the lawn to look? Should it be immaculate, or just green enough? How much time do I want to spend maintaining it?
2. How much money am I willing to spend to get the lawn looking how I want? Can I afford to have the lawn I envision?
3. What products and methods am I willing to accept? Do I care whether or not theproducts are safe, or must they pose minimal to no threat?

Decide which variable is most important, then second and third. An example might be: "I want a decent looking lawn that is basically weed free, and I'm willing to pay a little more to know the products will be relatively safe and used responsibly."

• 5 step programs skip a fall treatment to make them more affordable and ensure even color in spring.
• 4 step programs will provide adequate nutrition to maintain most lawns. Customers should not expect a 4 step program to provide rehabilitation of a neglected lawn.
